As pioneers in the AI digital media economy, we live an AI-first culture internally while helping enterprise clients shift from manual workflows to AI-native orchestration — scaling custom agent solutions (Monks.Flow), AI-driven campaigns, and next-gen AI search capabilities. By connecting brand strategy, media, data, and emerging technology around the consumer, we build intelligent platforms and content ecosystems for the world's leading brands. We foster a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace where authentic collaboration fuels industry-changing work.

The Role

Monks is seeking an experienced client-facing Senior Data Engineer (Marketing & BI) to drive data and analytics delivery across marketing, audience, and e-commerce engagements for both small and large enterprise clients.

This is a hands-on role that blends business and data responsibilities. Your time will be split approximately 70% on client delivery and 30% internal (capability building, reusable assets, innovation, growth, etc). You’ll be focused on SQL-based data modeling and analytics delivery, and you’ll run client workshops and stakeholder management, while also building out solutions in the broader BI space, executing technical implementations across a range of analytics and cloud data platforms.

The ideal candidate has a history of working with modern data products (e.g. BigQuery, Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift), and a proven track record of experience with the modern data stack based on cloud technologies, including data transformation, orchestration, warehousing and modelling, as well as BI and dashboard design using tools like Looker Studio, Power BI or Tableau.

In this role, you’ll help clients shape data pathways, translate data into insights and needs-based recommendations, deploy and configure the right tools, and improve data reliability, speed to insight, and KPI consistency. Working in the broader Data capability at Monks, this position offers opportunities for growth within our wider APAC data team with clear channels of progression into more senior roles, the ability to participate in innovation on projects and product development, and the potential to advance the practice of analytics and data from the forefront.

What You'll Do

• Lead requirements discovery and translate business questions into data/measurement solutions.

• Design data models (dimensional/star schemas) to support scalable reporting and self-serve analytics.

• Design and model data across various cloud data warehouses (BigQuery/Snowflake/Databricks/Redshift) from marketing, web/app, and e-commerce sources; exact platform varies by client.

• Articulate, design and develop BI dashboards and custom reporting experiences using tools such as Looker Studio, Power BI and Tableau.

• Establish data quality, monitoring, documentation, and governance practices.

• Partner with analytics/measurement teams on tracking approaches (GA4/GTM) to ensure usable downstream data.

• Present insights and recommendations to senior stakeholders; influence roadmaps, estimation and prioritisation.

• Contribute reusable assets (templates, data patterns, dashboard standards) to the wider Monks APAC data capability.

What You'll Bring

• 4+ years in data engineering / analytics engineering / BI engineering.

• 2+ years in client-facing delivery, consultancy or agency preferred.

• Expert SQL skills, primarily in an ETL/ELT context; we are BigQuery first, but some Python is also favoured.

• Strong dimensional modeling (star schemas), warehouse design, and metric/KPI definition for analytics use cases.

• Experience with BigQuery and at least one other cloud data platform (Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift, etc).

• Experience building BI dashboards (Looker Studio, Power BI, Tableau).

• Comfortable collaborating and presenting cross-functionally to stakeholders; writing clear documentation.

• You are self-driven, proactive, resourceful, intellectually curious, and detail-oriented.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to Have

• Hands-on experience with mainstream analytics platforms and data collection approaches, including Google Marketing Platform tooling (GTM, GA4, etc).

• Experience with transformation and orchestration tools including dbt, Airflow, Dagster or Prefect.

• Familiarity with broader enterprise BI platforms such as Looker (LookML/custom visualisations) or Datorama.

• An understanding of the adtech/martech/data landscape; CRM & CDP familiarity is a strong plus.

• Experience executing technical projects and/or managing enterprise clients end-to-end from inception to delivery.

• Current professional certifications in the field of Data Engineering or Analytics.
