The posting
Join Thumbtack, a company dedicated to helping small business owners thrive. As a Full-Stack Engineer, you will design and build the interfaces that business teams use to configure agents, review their work, and understand their actions. You will work across the stack, from React and TypeScript to service code and data models, and partner directly with business teams to translate operational problems into working software. You will own the full lifecycle of your work, including monitoring and post-launch improvement. Enjoy a virtual-first working model, generous PTO, and a range of benefits.
- Strong frontend skills with React and TypeScript, including complex application state and data-dense interfaces - Real product judgment: you can look at a workflow, decide what to build, and say what to cut - Interest in the problems that come with non-deterministic systems — uncertainty, partial failure, and designing for human correction rather than assuming a correct answer every time - 3+ years of professional software engineering experience - Solid backend engineering ability. We use Go, PHP, and Python, and we expect strong engineers to pick up a new language - Proven ability to navigate ambiguity, close your own knowledge gaps, and deliver in an evolving environment - Working knowledge of relational and non-relational data stores (Postgres, DynamoDB, or similar)
