Applied AI Engineer (Beneficial Deployments, Lab Automation)

Join Anthropic, a leading AI safety and research company, as an Applied AI Engineer in the Life Sciences team. In this role, you will help deploy the Model Hardware Standard (MHS) to labs conducting important research, automate experiments with AI, and drive product and research direction based on field experience. You will also serve as an ambassador for Claude in the lab, inspiring and building trust with scientific audiences. - A scientist's instinct for how experiments work: you can spot what's worth automating, and where AI might fail or be unsafe in the physical world - Strong engineering skills: you can take an LLM-powered tool from prototype to production code, and write evals to measure its performance - Experience working directly with external customers or partners in a technical role - A scrappy mentality–comfortable wearing multiple hats, building from scratch, driving clarity in ambiguous situations, and doing whatever it takes to further the mission - Hands-on experience connecting software to lab robots and instruments (liquid handlers, plate readers, scheduling software, LIMS), ideally in an automated lab - Clear written and verbal communication: you’ll write docs other labs can use without you and give talks that inspire and earn researchers' trust - Minimum years of experience: Years of experience required will correlate with the internal job level requirements for the position - Required field of study: A field relevant to the role as demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience - Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience - We encourage you to apply even if you do not believe you meet every single qualification
